Background: Hypertension is one of the most common non-communicable diseases worldwide and a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Awareness regarding hypertension plays a significant role in early diagnosis and prevention.

Objective: The present study aimed to assess the level of awareness regarding hypertension among adults living in urban communities.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 150 adults aged 25–60 years in an urban locality. Participants were selected using a simple random sampling method. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that assessed knowledge regarding causes, risk factors, symptoms, and prevention of hypertension.

Results: Among the participants, 62% were aware that hypertension can lead to heart disease and stroke. Approximately 48% correctly identified excessive salt intake as a risk factor, while 35% were aware of the role of physical inactivity. Only 29% of participants reported regular blood pressure monitoring.

Conclusion: The study highlights moderate awareness of hypertension among adults. Public health education programs are required to improve knowledge regarding risk factors and preventive measures.
